Vitual Dub can encode the files MPEG-1, VCD ".dat",
AVI, MP4 (DIVX), DV-AVI, in AVI files.
It is one of the simplest software to use but which to become very to complicate
when we wants to use all the options. For our personnel use and with an
aim of this chapter which wants be very simple, we will not use all the
options.
Contrary to the softwares DVD2AVI and FlasKMPEG, we will encode the soundtrack
too. Indeed, Virtual Dub is definitely more stable for this type of application,
this is why we will work in this way.
For demonstration, we will compress a MPEG-1 file NTSC 4/3 de 352x240 -
Music Video from UTADA HIKARU - WAIT & SEE - 4'54mn - 92,5 MB - en MPEG-4
DIVX AVI of the same resolution with a Bit Rate of 1000 Kbps for the video
and a Bit Rate of 128 Kbps for the audio.
This heading will be to decline into 4 chapters :
We go where
is located our file MPEG-1 of Utada HIKARU. We select this files and let
open it while clicking on the "Open" button. Our control panel
posts now two of the same frameworks dimension, makes the first framework
of it the source of your video and the second shows the video at exit
during the encoding. In Bottom of our panel you will be able to recognize
the buttons "STOP", and 2 buttons " PLAY", as on a
video tape. While clicking on the first button of "PLAY", your
video will be only
played within the first framework. In the event if you click on the second,
you will have a previsualisation of your encoding and the 2 frameworks
will be active.
